Ministries

Eucharistic Ministry:
“Be gentle when you touch bread, Christ often blessed it.” (Unknown Poet)

A Eucharistic Minister’s duties are to distribute Communion during mass and to take Communion to those who are housebound. During the year we hold training programmes for new and existing Ministers. New people are always welcome. Ministry of the Word:
“When the Word is proclaimed, it is an encounter with Christ.” (John Paul II).

This ministry is about proclaiming the word of God during mass. We have various programmes for Ministers of the Word during the year and we are always happy to hear new voices. The Coordinator the Ministers of the Word is Noreen Walsh. Music Ministry:
Adult Choir: Practices are on Thursdays at 8pm in the Annexe, House of Retreat.
Singing is at 12 noon mass every Sunday.
Choir leader and Organist is Geraldine Stynes.

Children’s Choir: Practices are on Sundays at 10.50am in the Annexe, House of Retreat. Singing is at 10am mass every Sunday. Choir leader is Joanne Lanigan.

Groups

Church Environment Groups
Garden and Grotto
There is a dedicated group of people who ensure that the church grounds are maintained and kept tidy and looking well. This group is comprised of Fas workers and parishioners who pay particular attention to the Grotto. Volunteers are always welcome.

Collectors
Church collectors are a group of parishioners who take collections during mass.

Newsletter Deliverers
The parish newsletter is produced on a weekly basis and is delivered to houses in the parish by volunteers.


Liturgy Group
The Liturgy Group meets one Sunday every month to prepare for the major liturgical events. The contact person is Noreen Walsh.

 Funeral Ministry Group
This group visits the family of the deceased to arrange the funeral liturgy and at times they lead the prayers in the home and at the grave.

 Bereavement Group
The Bethany Bereavement Group in this parish offers support and a chance to talk to someone who has experienced bereavement or other life-changing loss. Two members of this group hold a drop-in meeting on the last Monday of every month for those who wish to come and talk.
